Something that has really started to etch itself into my mind and body over the past year is taking my time to create and achieve my desires. To go about it slowly and without judgement towards myself for however long it takes.
Cultivating. Brewing. Simmering.
Like a jug of herbal tea infusing in the sun. Or a dream that you scrawl down on a piece of paper and toss to the wind, allowing it to be carried to the stars. Or a huge pot of homemade marinara sauce that was passed down from one generation to the next. Allowing things to come together as they do, naturally and organically and without force or regard.
All good things take some time to infuse with their true magic. That’s what makes it worth the wait. That’s what makes the medicine, rewards, or benefits that much more potent.
Nothing kills an amazing creation or dream like rushing through it and feeling like you didn’t really get to invest your heart and soul into it. Or that it simply flew by too fast. Nowadays, especially in our society, we are pushed and encouraged to accomplish xy & z to realize the American Dream by the time we’re 30.
I don’t know about you, but I’d rather take my sweet ass time. I’d rather charge my projects, creations and dreams with love and patience and all the while knowing that I’m cultivating something absolutely valuable and worthwhile. Not only that, but I’m able to sink fully and deliciously into the entire experience since I’m not strapping myself to some unrealistic deadline.
Why are all in such a rush? Life is such a sacred, precious gift to be treasured and held dearly. Your life is meant to be lived fully and without haste. You deserve to move as slow as it takes so that you can fully immerse yourself in the experience, because that’s where the magic happens. That’s where growth and healing happen. True healing.
If you rush through your life, how are you ever going to have time to slow down, turn inward, and work through your shit in order to heal? You won’t, because you’ll be too busy trying to quickly finish whatever is next on your agenda, thinking it will make you feel fuller, satisfied and accomplished. But you have to ask yourself the difficult question, “will this really make feel the way I want to FEEL?” If the answer is no, or you feel like you’re going about it the wrong way, then slow down and gift yourself more time to live, experience, and cultivate everything.
Slowing down and allowing yourself to open up, relax and explore will benefit you on all levels as opposed to rushing, proceeding or charging onward despite what your body, mind and spirit are really telling you. If your body is telling you to slow down and you ignore it, what do you think is going to happen? Every aspect of your life is connected holistically. Your choices affect one another. Your health affects your willingness to live. It affects how you approach your day and schedule. It affects how you treat others and view the world. So slowing down and listening to your intuition, your body, and that voice inside of your head telling you to slow down and take your time in order to cultivate something magnificent is the most imperative thing you can do for your life and your health.
I personally believe that we inherently desire and deserve to live sensual lives. To be free to explore, create, cultivate and allow our lives, projects, dreams, and everything else to simmer, slowly coming together. I’ve never heard anyone tell me that they feel amazing after rushing through their entire day or rushing through something that was meaningful to them. Imagine if your entire life happened all in one blur that zoomed past you at warp speed? Not so fun to think about. Everything in your life deserves connection, and true exploration and indulgence. It all deserves to be experienced presently and fully.
The key to cultivation is to free yourself from expectations, whether it’s from yourself, society, family members, friends, colleagues, whoever or whatever else. Free yourself from thinking things should be accomplished in this amount of time or that amount of time. Move as slowly as you like. Be sensual about it all, no matter what it is. No matter if it’s a project you’re working on or something you’re eating at the moment. Be present, allow yourself to be completely and 100% in that moment, not expecting it to go one way or another or being strict about your timeline.
You deserve to be in the moment. You deserve to indulge and slowly weave the threads of your life together so that they create a magical, beautiful piece of art work.
This life is an honor. So let’s honor it, ok? Let’s be sacred and present, happy and fulfilled, sensual and free. Always.
