I’m feeling that Venus energy strong today on this holy day of Venus. The energy of LOVE. 

Venus is the planet (and goddess) ruling attraction, love, romance, pleasure, beauty, sensuality, friendships/relationships and even prostitution. Venus can also be invoked for fertility magic and sex magick. 

Aphrodite is the Greek version of Venus (Roman) and it’s said that Aphrodite/Venus was born from the sea foam after Saturn castrated his father, Uranus, and his blood and semen fell into the sea. This is why you’ll often see images of Venus/Aphrodite standing in a clam shell in the sea. 

I love working with planetary magick, which involves building altars and doing magic, rituals, offerings and spells to honor and build a relationship with a planet…like Venus.

Building a relationship with Venus, for me, looks like invoking and embodying Venus as a planetary deity, energy and goddess archetype. 

So not only am I honoring the planet Venus, but I’m invoking the goddess Venus. 

The planets I work with are Jupiter every Thursday and Venus every Friday. I’m considering also doing work with Mars on Tuesdays since I’m an Aries, which is ruled by Mars 😉

On January 18th and 25th (both Friday and Venus day), I cast a two-part beauty, pleasure, self love and prosperity spell. I also honored Venus through an altar, offering and ritual. Ever since then, I’ve been feeling more connected to my sensuality, luxury, beauty, pleasure, love and prosperity. 

More in relationship with it all as a whole. With my Self, basically. 

When you do magick and create rituals, altars and spells, it helps to focus your intention and energy into a specific thing. It helps you channel intention and energy into a specific desired outcome (like experiencing more love, feeling more pleasure, having more prosperity, etc.). 

That sends a powerful message to your unconscious mind, which is the more influential part of you that really determines your magical outcomes…and whether your desire will unfold or not…or perhaps how it will unfold.  

It’s the same concept as having a vision board or a goal you look at every day. When I put out an offering of red wine or chocolates for Venus it feels like a very powerful declaration of my devotion to my goal or intention of loving myself and reveling in sensuality, beauty and prosperity. 

It’s like adding small wood scraps to a roaring fire and then fanning the flames. It feeds it. Allowing it to become stronger. 

That’s what ritual and planetary magick does for me (and what it can do for you!). It takes me out of my logical mundane brain — my every day brain — and into my magical, creative brain (where anything is possible!). 

It reminds me of my power and how it feels viscerally in my blood, bones and cells. So if you’re down to honor Venus, give this planet some love. 

The Venus I work with is she/her, but the beauty of planetary magick or working with deities and archetypes is that we can each have a unique representation, relationship and experience of what or who they feel like to us individually. 

Venus (for me) likes a luxurious blue-green velvet tablecloth on her altar. She likes copper chalices, chocolates, vanilla bean scents, rose tea, red wine, bouquets of roses and scattered rose petals, rose quartz or jade crystals and beauty mirrors. 

She likes it when I create a Venus bath ritual for myself and indulgently soak in bubble bath, honey, milk, rose petals and rose oil. She likes pearls, chalices and peacock feathers. 

What does Venus ask of you on this day? What would excite Venus as an offering? 

Let’s take a look at Venus Love Magic and what exactly the planet Venus adores. This will help you build a relationship with her. 

VENUS LOVE MAGIC

Venus rules Friday and is associated with the color green and pink and the metal copper.

If you want to give offerings to Venus, here’s what I recommend:

• Create an altar for Venus & love (or whatever your love spell or intention is focused around specifically), preferably on Friday, the day of venus
• You can use elements that correspond to Venus (see below)
• Begin giving offerings on the day of Venus, each Friday
• Offerings can be lavish, sweet foods that entice Venus

DAY OF VENUS: Friday

COLOR: Green and/or pink (I also like to use red too sometimes for romance and passion)

METAL: Copper

VENUS HERBS: Damiana, vanilla, rose petals (or other flower and petals), geranium, jasmine flowers, kava kava

VENUS FOODS & DRINKS: Sweet and sensual foods like honey, sugar, vanilla bean, chocolates, hot chocolate, kava kava or damiana tea, chocolate covered strawberries, red wine, berries and other fancy foods like oysters (also an aphrodisiac)

VENUS CRYSTALS: Lodestone (for attraction and magnetism), jade, rose quartz, emerald

OTHER ITEMS: Sea shells, pearls, honey, milk, peacock feathers, luxurious fabrics like silk, satin, real or faux fur, velvet, etc. 

Here’s how you can work with Venus for sensuality, beauty, pleasure and love magic rituals. 

My favorite way, which is what I’ll invite you to explore, is to do a ritual of building an altar and giving her an offering each Friday. 

Like I mentioned before Venus rules all things beauty, pleasure, sensuality, love (all kinds of love, but I really enjoy focusing on cultivating self-love because that feeds the love I share with others, including my partner and daughter), prosperity, luxury, fertility and our sexuality. 

My relationship with Venus includes things like building altars for her every Friday, giving her offerings on the same day, adorning and anointing myself in a way that plays with beauty, luxury and sensuality, doing sex magick to help me tap into my desire(s), taking a Venus Goddess Bath. 

On the waxing phase of the moon cycle (from right after the new moon building up to full moon) I’ll do magic and rituals with Venus that help with growth, attraction and receiving. This is because the energy of the moon is building up to peak fertility (the ripe energy of the full moon). It’s like harnessing the power of ovulation, if you bleed. 

For example, doing love, sex or fertility magic and calling something in. Focusing on attraction spells that bring something to you. I love doing sex magic during these times whether my sex magic is focused on my sexuality or more focused on deeper self-love, more money, owning my beauty, etc. 

On the waning phase of the moon cycle (from right after the full moon winding down to the new moon) I’ll do magic that focuses either on simply being grateful for what I’ve cultivated previously or magick that focuses on releasing, cleansing and purifying. This is because the energy is slowly declining and is great for magic and rituals that focus on letting go or even banishing. 

For example, if you feel like something is holding you back from your Venus-related desire (unconditional self-love, feeling more beauty in your every day life, connecting to your sensuality, etc.), then you could do a spell on a waning moon Friday to help let go of the blocks. 

Venus likes pearls, seafoam and green, pink and red rose petals, crushed velvet and other luxurious fabrics (silk, satin, faux or real fur, velvet), milk, honey, pink, green or red candles, copper, fancy chocolates (like truffles), vanilla bean, flowers, sea shells, carved candles with glitter and crushed dried rose petals. 

What does YOUR Venus like? 

How to Build a Venus Altar:

1. Find a space in your home that you can devote to your Venus altar. It doesn’t have to be a big space, but make sure it’s clean. I usually wipe off the table I’m using with some Florida Water mixed with water. You can just dust it off if you don’t have access to Florida Water. 
2. Choose a cloth to put on your altar. I usually use the blue-green velvet, but Venus (for me) also likes Sea Foam, pink or red cloth. 
3. Choose items that represent Venus on your altar. I usually have my jade egg in a bowl, surrounded by rose petals, a vanilla bean candle, my pussy gazing mirror, my rose quartz Chakrub, peacock feathers and more. 
4. Write an invocation or incantation to invoke and embody Venus. You can also draw the symbol of Venus (google ‘Venus Symbol’) on a piece of paper or even carve it into a pink, green or red candle. 
5. Give Venus an offering after you invoke and embody her. See the offerings listed previously or ask Venus specifically what she wants from you. Some days my Venus wants red wine, other days she wants vanilla bean hot chocolate with dried, crushed rose petals sprinkled on top. 
6. Light a candle for Venus and allow it to burn out (safely). If you need to let it burn longer, place it in a bowl of water (maybe with rose petals) otherwise you can snuff it out with something and return to it the next Friday. 
7. Speak to Venus and tell her your secret desires and intentions. What are you longing to invoke her for? Love magic for unconditional love? Fertility magic to make a baby? Beauty magic to truly own your beauty? 
8. Thank Venus and ask that she accept and enjoy your offering. 

Feel free to bring the energy of Venus into your body and life in other ways.

Adorn and anoint yourself, dressing in a way that makes you feel loved and beautiful. Take a long, luxurious hot bath with sea salts, honey and milk. Wear lingerie. Sprinkle rose petals on your bed and self pleasure, doing sex magic. Use a jade egg. Cast unconditional love and beauty spells on the mirrors in your house. Gaze into a mirror and imagine yourself transfiguring into Venus herself.
