I’m going to share with you how I meditate…and why it might not be for everyone.

There was a period of time where I tried to force myself to meditate for 20 minutes twice daily. This never really felt good for me. I try to avoid getting dogmatic about anything, whether it’s meditation, self-pleasure, using my jade egg, or dancing. However, I felt like I was forcing myself to do it and it didn’t feel that great.

Finally after playing with it and letting myself flow into what simply felt good in my body, I realized why I avoided Zen style meditation–where you are essentially “emptying” yourself of any thoughts and clearing your mind.

The saying ‘As above, so below’ had never become more true for me when I realized I had been trying to meditate in a way that just wasn’t for me. At least not as my go-to practice.

Sure, every now and then I have so many thoughts, ideas, beliefs, and energy in my body and life that sitting down and meditating for the purpose of letting myself JUST BE really does help. But is this my favorite and most pleasurable method of meditation that I’m actually excited to melt into each morning? Not really.

What makes meditation enjoyable for me is weaving in the same energy that I weave into every other aspect of my body, business, and life–my feminine, sensual, orgasmic, pleasurable energy. My Shakti. Now I understand this might not be for everyone and that’s ok. We are all different and even I still need different forms of meditation depending on my menstrual cycle, what’s going on in my body and/or life, and other reasons.

Here’s what I enjoy about this more sensual style of meditation that I’ve been practicing:

  • Breathing deeply (this activates your Shakti aka life-force energy, vitality, and radiance)…this is present in all meditation styles anyway.
  • Connecting to my womb, heart, and yoni–which are most definitely my sources of divinity and intuition. The parts of my body that I awaken and embody on a daily basis…so why was I excluding them from meditation?
  • I feel deeply embodied in who I am and what I’m here to do, plus I feel juicy, radiant, alive, and deliciously tapped into my pleasure, sensuality, and sexual energy–which is our creative energy, therefore, I am basically harnessing my creativity to be used in my business and projects. Yum.
  • I can circulate my orgasmic sexual energy through my whole body while I’m breathing deeply, which feels soooooooo fucking good. Seriously. Imagine your whole body ripe with passion, pleasure, love, and desire–for yourself! All of that before having breakfast too!

I understand the true point of meditation isn’t to dismiss thoughts completely, which is impossible. The art of meditation is learning to breathe, be with yourself, let thoughts go with compassion and not judging ourselves as they keep coming up, but traditional “sit down and just be for 20 minutes 2x daily” meditation just doesn’t cut it for me most days.

Here’s a brief run down of my meditation, which somewhat becomes a feminine embodiment practice.

I sit comfortably, usually in my bed, with my jade egg nestled in between my legs so I can connect with it before I start meditating. I often have candles and incense going. Sometimes I use sensual music, but lately I’ve preferred the silent component to weave in that masculine “conscious emptiness” energy.

I place my hands on my heart and breathe deeply three times down into my yoni (vulva) and back up to my heart.

Then, I place my hands in a downward facing triangle over my womb and repeat the breathing pattern three more times down into my yoni, through my womb, and up into my heart. Lastly, I cup my hands over my yoni and repeat three more breaths.

I call this the Womb-Heart-Yoni Connection and it basically connects all three regions and gets my sexual energy flowing and awakens my sensuality. I’m usually pulsing my pelvic floor muscles on each inhale and releasing on each exhale.

Then, I’ll set my timer for however long feels good. Sometimes five minutes, other times 20 depending on my mood. I view my meditation as a mind clearing AND sexual energy harnessing experience to be embodied from a place of sensual pleasure.

As I’m inhaling, I might keep pulsing my pelvic floor muscles, imagining sexual energy and waves of orgasmic bliss rising up the back of my spine from my root chakra and then back down the front of my body on the exhale, repeating the cycle over and over again until my timer goes off or I feel intuitively complete. Usually by the end, I feel very turned on in my body and high on creative energy.

Other times, I’ll place my hands back on my womb or yoni and just focus on breathing deeply into either region, harnessing the energy there.

For now, this style feels really good to me to embody each day. But sometimes, I do like to just sit down and stop overthinking, just breathing. Have you ever tried a more orgasmic, sensual, or feminine embodiment style meditation? Or do you use a mantra or prefer silence and to let go of your thoughts?? What lights you up?

I live my life with the sense that anything can be a meditation–dancing, making love, using a jade egg, taking a walk, drinking tea!
